This phase was about translating insights into actionable design criteria that would guide the development of the repair service platform.
The work began with data organization and analysis. This included categorizing the information gathered from various sources like consumer interviews, expert consultations, and market analysis. Patterns and trends were identified, highlighting consumer repair behavior, perceived barriers to repair, and the potential market for repair services.
Key consumer insights were synthesized into a compelling narrative, understanding the user’s emotional journey when faced with broken items. This was achieved by employing tools like empathy maps and user personas to capture the nuances of consumer experiences and expectations.
The synthesis phase also involved examining the broader context in which the repair service would operate. This meant considering environmental impacts, sustainability trends, and the potential for community building within the repair ecosystem. An emphasis was placed on the sentimentality of personal items and how this could be leveraged to shift consumer behavior from replacement to repair.
